Graduating to the ER!!!

I know I have been MIA for a while now but soooo many things happened last week... From my last post you all know I started a job, which is great...

Then last Friday my sister and her family including my niece and nephew came into town for Christmas. My brother in law is in the Army and they are currently stationed in Georgia, 18 hours from home. Needless to say I haven't been able to see them since August! It's been so great having them all here!! Of coarse it has been complete chaos too...

To add to the chaos, Jayden got very sick... Here's that story...

Friday when Jayden woke up he was scratching at the back of his neck, I didn't think anything about it and took him to school. I went to work and our numbers were low, we only had four of our seven babies so they let me leave early! Everyone loves to get off work early!

When I got to my parent's house to see my sister and the kids someone noticed the back of Jayden's neck and it looked like this...

Then we realized he started to get fever, but we called my oldest sister and she gave it a look. (she is an RN) we came up with it being chicken pox, but it kept getting worse! Being that the next day was my graduation we started giving him Tylenol and motrin to try to reduce his fever and Benadryl for the itch, it didn't work. Saturday came around and he looked like this...

Of coarse it freaked me out soooo we went to the E.R. They diagnosed him with this long hard to pronounce name meaning he got a virus and his body reacted causing the hives or target looking splotches all over his body, along with a super high fever 105.5!!!! They told me I just had to keep doing what I was doing because there really wasn't anything else we could do for him.

So we went all weekend with him having the spots all over his body and a high fever that wouldn't break. Monday we took him to his regular dr so she could assess the situation, and she sent us to the children's hospital. He was dehydrated and that was all they fixed. They gave him steroids which made him a completely different kid. His rash and fever are now gone and he is more active but he has not come down with "roid rage" if you will because he is not use to taking the steroids so we get to keep dealing with temper tantrums!!!

And as I said earlier this all came about at the time of my college graduation. Here is my cap....

Then my sister and I decided to make my mom some christmas gifts using pinterest as inspiration.. Here those are...

So as I said it has been quite a week for me, but things are starting to look up!!! We are ready for Christmas here in Dallas!!!

Have a great day and if I don't post again until after Christmas have a wonderful Christmas with all of your families!!!

P.S. This post has been sitting as a draft waiting to be published for the last 3 days, that is how crazy my life is right now!!! :) Have a great Christmas!!! :))

7 babies later...

Today was a the beginning to a new chapter of my life... the gotta work to get paid chapter... I started working at the daycare where my son goes, of coarse not in his classroom... I am in with the babies... there are 7 babies under the age of 18 months in my classroom... needless to say by the end of the day this mommy was a tired one...

I did however have a very productive day! I got all bills paid, house cleaned, Christmas presents wrapped all before work, and after work I made dinner, fed little man, made a cake and started a "Journal Calendar" that I am making (thanks to pinterest inspiration) for my sister as a Christmas present.  I am very excited about it and I think it is going to be really cute, I will post pics as soon as I am finished with it.  I am also going to start another project that I have to do before this weekend, pics will be up of that too!

All of this needs to be done by Friday and tomorrow I won't be doing any of it because I get a night off mommy duty and get to go to the casino with my mom and aunt!!! Money, money, monnnnnney!!! At least we hope!! :)

Oh and 2 more exciting things coming up this week, my sister, brother-in-law, niece, and nephew will be here on Friday (I haven't seen them since August) and of coarse GRADUATION!!!! yayyyyy!!!!

Well not to much happened today, check back to see if I hit the big one at the casino!!!
Have a great week!!

Organizing Fanatic!!!!

It's been a few days since I have posted... after reading this post you will know why! (just a warning, might be a longer post because of pictures)

I started off the week trying to get my life organized by making a Home Management Binder after seeing so many ideas on Pinterest, and reading so many blogs about how easy they make things and how great they are!
So I decided I would try it...but as I sat down at my desk I realized what a disaster it was...
Before (I promise I don't always have it like this)

Then I got my supplies out for the Home Management Binder...
  • Binder
  • Sheet Protectors
  • Dividers
  • Hole Punch
  • 3-column registry (I use this instead of a bank registry)
  • Sharpies
  • Hole reinforcements
And I got to work on my binder.  I'll have to post again later with more detail about the binder.  I have not completely finished it yet, there are a few sections I need to complete and of coarse make it more fun but it got late when I was working on it.

The next day I became consumed with filling out applications and all kinds of stuff on the internet.  I did get a job at the child care facility where my son goes.  I will be working part time until I can get a full time teaching position which will most likely not be until this summer for the 2011-2012 school year! I can't wait to start setting up my classroom!! :)

Tuesday got here and I had to get Jayden from daycare, he was running a fever so we made a trip to the Dr. The diagnosis, he was  in the starting process of getting strep throat so she gave us meds and we went on our way.  Of coarse this meant that he could not go to school until he had been on antibiotics for at least 24 hours so he got to stay at home with mommy on Wednesday! This was the day I decided to make my great grandmother's famous banana bread, been a family favorite since before I was born!!! :) I have pics and a tutorial I will post soon but figured this would be long enough... all though I did have mommies little helper right there with me...

He doesn't look sick at all, hahaha!

But that brings us to Thursday, this was what I had planned for earlier in the week until I decided I better not try and tackle that with the help of little man because I knew I wouldn't get far.  I have been reading all sort of great blogs about organizing and have become obsessed with it.  Of coarse I don't like to start small with anything soooo I just jumped right in and decided to tackle my closet.

Here is where the problem lies, we live in a decent sized 2 bedroom apartment but of coarse the closet space is not enough.  I have over 70 pairs of shoes, plus tons of clothes, and purses; but that's just my stuff the boyfriend probably has close to 25 pairs of shoes and tons of clothes and all different types of bags used for transporting junk to and from his buddies houses (by junk I mean video games)!

These are some of my shoes...

Some more of my shoes, on the back of the closet door which prevented us from opening it all the way...
And again more of my shoes that had no place in the closet so they began to pile up on the desk...
These were my solution... I bought a 10 pack of bankers boxes for $16 at Wal Mart, cut, covered, and labeled them for each type of shoe.

I then separated my shoes and as you can tell by the white box on the end, I didn't have enough made so I just had to use a plain one :(... I then stacked them on the top shelf which I will have to use a ladder to get them down without dumping them over... And you can even see that I just had to keep 3 pairs in their boxes because they would not fit in their specific boxes.  I did separate some pairs out to sell or eventually donate and all the empty boxes I am holding on to incase I need them for a school project one of these days!

I then had the idea to use another white banker box to hold all the shoes I wear regularly so that I didn't have to fish through each box everytime I wanted them down. (that's the white box on the lower right corner) The boyfriend's size 14 shoes are too big to fit into boxes so I neatly lined them up in the space where my laundry basket for shoes use to sit.

And as you can see with the finished product there is a lot more open space and we can completely open the closet door now!!

I am very happy with our newly organized closet and have a lot more projects in mind to help organize the rest of my home! I am sorry this was such a long post! I have just one more picture to leave you guys with... My Christmas tree, I absolutely love this time of year!!!

You can't see the color scheme but it is a white tree with all red and green and silver ornaments!! We went traditional this year!!! :)

More posts to come from our weekend adventures!!! Have a great weekend y'all!!!

Making {the} Leap

Finally it's done... look out world, HERE I COME!!!!

I am sooo excited to be starting this blog.  I have been blog stalking for a while now and really wanted to start my own but felt I had nothing interesting to say, until I stumbled on all the other great blogs out there and thought I could do this so...

Drum roll!!!!!!!!!!!

I made the leap and I am now a blogger!!! I have worked all day, read tutorial after tutorial, made attempt after attempt, and finally came up with the perfect name, look, and first post!!

I am the type of person that loves to look at pictures and read all about great trials and tribulations that have been overcome, as well as reading about great ideas, or just something silly that happened that day. So, rest assured that this blog will be all of those things... a lot of pictures (especially as I start my journey into teacher world, oh! and just because I love to make crafty things and show them off!!!), some ideas (you'll judge if they are good or not), and of coarse day to day stories of my life and all the crazy but amazing people I have in it (my family would be millionaires if someone had found a producer to film our lives)!!!

With all that said I hope you enjoy reading and come back time and time again!!!!!
